This is the home of College
Teaching, subscriptions to which are available in print or online. A
refereed cross-disciplinary journal, it focuses on how teachers can improve student
learning. Each issue includes practical ideas and new strategies, articles on
classroom research, student assessment, diversity, student-centered
instruction, and accountability.
Exchange Magazine “exists to stimulate the
sharing of ideas, practices, and news about learning and teaching in higher
education.” Issue 3 (December 2002) focuses on linking research and
teaching.
The International Journal for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning is
an “open, peer-reviewed, international electronic journal”
produced twice annually by Georgia Southern University. It publishes research
articles, essays, and personal reflections on teaching and learning.
The International
Journal of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, a peer-reviewed
on-line journal published three times annually, “provides broad
coverage of higher education pedagogy and the Scholarship of Teaching and
Learning across diverse content areas, educational institutions, and levels
of instructional expertise.” In particular, it seeks submissions that
“encourage study, development, application, and evaluation of higher
education pedagogy.”
The Journal of Effective Teaching, a peer-reviewed on-line journal
published twice annually by University
of North Carolina Wilmington,
seeks articles on effective teaching and SoTL as
well as reviews of books on teaching excellence.
IndianaUniversity produces The Journal of
Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, a “forum for the
dissemination of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in higher education
for the community of teacher-scholars.” The journal’s home page
includes links to several excellent SoTL resources.
The Journal of University Teaching and Learning Practice (JUTLP), a
peer-reviewed on-line journal published twice annually by the
University of Wollongong
(Australia),
aims to “provide a forum for educational practitioners in a wide range
of disciplines to communicate their teaching and learning outcomes in a
scholarly way."
Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (LATHE), published
electronically, is “an interdisciplinary refereed journal providing an
accessible international forum for scholarly debate related to learning,
teaching, and assessment in higher education.” The journal publishes
scholarly articles, book reviews, and case studies of effective practice.
Topics have included Scholarship of Assessment, Scholarship of e-Learning,
and Scholarship of Inclusive Curricula.
MountainRise, a peer-reviewed on-line
journal published twice annually by Western Carolina University, publishes
work that applies scholarly methodologies to teaching and learning,
“making that reflection and research public and open to critique, and
thereby enabling a body of knowledge to develop, be reviewed and
revised.” The site includes an archive of past issues and links to additional

This site includes helpful materials on numerous topics related to college
and university teaching and learning. Maintained by the National Teaching and
Learning Forum (NTLF), it is a useful resource for those wanting to
participate in and benefit from a “sustained and sustaining
