David Schodt is the 2009 Winner
of the
Stewart Bellman Award for Exemplary Leadership
for the Advancement of College Teaching and Learning

David Schodt is a professor in the Department of Economics at St. Olaf College, and the founding director of its Center for Innovation in the Liberal Arts, the College’s learning and teaching center. He has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Cornell University, and an M.A. in Public Policy and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

In their nominating statement, his colleagues at St. Olaf College emphasized Schodt’s devotion to the Center for Innovation in the Liberal Arts (CILA), the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), and the Carnegie Academy for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (CASTL). His exemplary leadership and expertise in these programs and many more have made him a mentor to many.

Schodt has been involved with the Collaboration for the Advancement of College Teaching and Learning for many years, both as a beneficiary of, and a contributor to, its programs. He is a contributor to the Traveling Workshop program, and he served on the Planning Committee for the November 2009 conference.

You can read more about Schodt's contributions to teaching and learning in the nomination statement submitted by his colleagues at St. Olaf College.
